I care! In fact, Sarutobi is my favorite Naruto character. In the words of someone else, "This old guy kicks ass!"
Even at the age of 69 he single-handedly defeated the incarnations of two previous hokages and disabled Orochimaru. That's insane. Imagine what he could've done when he was younger.
That, to me, proves that Sarutobi was the strongest ninja yet. (We haven't seen Yondaime's true power, and Naruto gets a good deal of his strength from the Kyuubi; that's cheating!)
