Description Just some pictures I have of me in my Halloween costume. I'm Naked Snake from Metal Gear Solid 3. I "worked" kinda hard on this, so I wanted to show it off somewhere. And by hard, I mean pretty much just having to rush to gather the items in time to make it. The sketch on top was just my way of keeping track of what I needed and what I needed them to look like. But of course, I REALLY have found some respect for those out there who make their own costumes. All I had to do basically was find the fatigues and a bunch of dumb army surplus items, then didn't shave for about a week and a half (although my face stubble doesn't really show. ) Only things I had to make were his radio and headset, the harness straps, and had to get the fabric for the bandana. Big deal! Oh, and I guess making the box was work too.... sorta. Painted the box gray and printed the labels off the Internet. I still think it came out rather well. So.... there ya go!

Heheh, thanks! Glad you like it.

Hmm... well, the camo fatigues, I'm sure you can find rather cheap, but I had the bonus of my dad still having his stuff from the Marines... so I'm not sure how much those run, but it can't be much. The undershirt was wannabe Underarmor I got at Target for maybe $10. Heheh... as for the "harnessy" things.... I think harness straps are what they're actually called. Buying a harness may be the way to go if you can find one that looks the part and have the money, or you can buy a pretty good length of the material and the fasteners for very cheap if you don't mind making 'em yourself. Probably be able to find those at a fishing or hunting store, which is where I picked mine up when I got the gloves. As for the belt, holster, packs and such, all were found at a military surplus store. Overall, I think I spent $200

Thank you very much! I didn't put a lot of work into it, but I tried. I let a lot of stuff slip, since I knew not many people would be seeing it.

Heheh, that means a lot to me coming from you. Perhaps one day, I'll actually get the costume closer to being finished and not just "good enough".

lets see...the holsters the wrong type the pistol belt's the wrong type and color, the butt back is the wrong type and color and the ammo pouches are too modern and not the american vietnam war era issue witch was what naked snake had on him. other wise not bad but you gotta work with what you got

Hahah, cool. Never thought anyone would've looked that extensively into it! Yeah... I guess I could have dyed the pack, but it was the only one I could find as far as type goes. And to be honest, I was just glad to find the ammo pouches. Thanks for the analysis, though!

Heheh, yeah... Surplus is the way to go. I kinda felt like I was cheating making the costume, because I found everything I needed in one store. All I had to do was color the radio and make the harness... thing.

Hahah! It's essential! Not to mention it was on of the hardest things to make, for some dumb reason. You'd think it would be easy to find grey paint. I mean... c'mon! It's grey!!! I ended up having to buy white and black seperately to mix my own grey.

Hey, I owe it all to you! Without the canteen and the airsoft pistol, it wouldn't have been complete. And who knows..... maybe one of these days, you'll come home and out of nowhere, you'll find the unexpected.

Thank you very much! Yeah, your Yuna costume looked like you put a lot of work into it. And I wouldn't say that it was a waste. You have to know that you were proud of what you were able to make, and you even got to show it off at a convention. That's really cool. I'd say you did an awesome job!
