well it was a bit of a dry spell, but I managed to do another toon I have a new character as well. Ultra-Flyer, the glider, who is a bit clueless and kind of a rambler, but he's a good guy
Unfortunately, he's not making alot of friends right now, holding up the line to a rock concert! he might get squashed by Andre Turcat!

Thermals are great for gliders, but can mess up your descent or approach in a powered aircraft

Powered aircraft usually don't have the glide/slope ratio of a modern sailplane, with power off you just go down, but during an approach, thermals can cause unecessary movement and can cause clear air turbulence

Windshear detection and ACARS tend to be helpful in those matters. a quick glimpse at the Weather Channel before a flight can give you some info as well

I think there are powered gliders, which have the engine of a conventional aircraft and the high aspect ratio wing of a glider. very odd looking, but they're performance is fantastic
