Description
"Two Entities...One of the Light..and One of the Darkness. The Light ruled the day and the light that she blessed upon us all. The Darkness ruled the night and cursed the darkness he gave. The Light was loved by all and the Darkness was shunned. Those created by the Light were called Dreamers, and those created by the Darkness were called Nightmares. The Dreamers cared for the people, while the Nightmares devoured them. One day, the Darkness grew jealous of the love that the Light received and thus stole away her heart, ending the Light. On that day the clouds covered the sun until it was as dark as night. Nightmares crowded the streets and killed those who opposed the Darkness. This was known as the Age of Darkness. He reigned for a hundred years until he was sent back to his own land, the Nightmare Realm. The clouds departed, but the Light never returned. Her heart was never found. But there is still hope..One day the Light will return and-" A hand raised in the air. The teacher sighs and looks to a magenta Chameleon with his hand in the air. The other children groaned. "Not again" "this is the THIRD TIME he has interrupted!" The teacher quieted the rest of the children and turns to the magenta one. His golden eyes gleamed as he kept his hand in the air. "...Espio Zecora...what is it now?" she asked as he lowered his hand. "...If..the Light never returned, then who is controlling it?" he asked. The teacher put her hand on her face and sighs. This darned child kept asking her questions she NEVER knew the answer to. How in the world would a FIVE YEAR OLD think this DEEPLY? "I don't know, Espio.." she replied as she looked at him. He raised his hand again. "what?" She asked, again. HOW MANY QUESTIONS DID THIS CHILD HAVE? "...Is Darkness really evil? I mean...he hasn't tried to hurt anyone..and Light is still gone" Espio asked. Laughter came from the other children. The teacher stared in disbelief. "What..what type of question is that, Espio?" She asked. "....Mighty wanted me to ask.." Espio said, tapping his fingers together. Of course he asked a question for his brother. How could he not? "Yes, Espio. He is evil..the Darkness is never to be trusted. Those who trust him will be turned into FLESH EATING MONSTERS," she replied, closing the scroll with a sharp glare. Espio recoiled a bit at the hiss she had given. The other children now look just as scared. Great, that's the LEAST thing she wanted to happen. "As long as you beware him, you will be FINE," she said as she stood up, "This lesson is over. Find your parents." Espio stood up to leave. "And Espio?" the chameleon froze and slowly looks at his teacher. "NEVER QUESTION HISTORY AGAIN." Espio slowly nodded with a gulp and scuttered off. Why was it so bad that he asked that question? He wanted to know, and so did his brother. At least he had gotten an answer. It was time to tell it to his brother, but he knew Mighty wouldn't be happy about it. Mighty was always the more optimistic, despite being sick. Espio walks down the hallway to the room of his younger brother, not noticing the shadows that had grown as he had passed.
