Description My Soundwave cosplay for NDK 2012. I'm so happy how he turned out especially since he isn't completely finished.

I...LOVE..THIS. It's so awesome! I was thinking about making a TFP Soundave costume for Halloween (it may have been years since the show aired but he's still awesome) but I'm just gonna have to use cardboard and some fabric since I'm limited. U wouldn't happen to know any other solid material I could use besides fabric for the visor do u?

Hello :3 thank you for the comment This was my first real attempt at transformers cosplay so I had to experiment a bit with the mask. Since the original cosplay was made of thick foam and duct tape, I used a bike helmet that was layered with the foam and duct tape on top. I tried unsuccessfully to replicate the mask with another bike helmet but instead of using thick foam, I used craft foam. There might be pictures of the other Soundwave rig on my page to somewhat compare the helmets. I think if you're thinking about making the mask, you should experiment with different types of materials to see what makes the best shape. I hope this helps!

I used really thin black fabric for the visor. It wasn't perfect but it did its job. I also had a friend guiding me around since my vision wasn't totally clear. Hope this also helps

Thanks! This was my first TFP Soundwave I made. He's completely made of duct tape and foam. He holds a special place in my heart as he was my first robot rig that I actually planned out and took the time to make.

Me around 3.5 months to plan build and finish this rig. For the most part it was somewhat comfortable to walk in. However, by the end of the day my feet hurt so badly I'm going to remodel the feet so that instead of wearing heels, I can wear normal shoes but have the same 4 inch vertical. I could also see very well though the helmet. The visor was made with a thin black piece of cloth that was easy to see through but hard for others to see in side.

Thanks! This was my first time making a rig that large and complex. I so happy it came out looking the way it did and that it resembles Soundwave almost to a T, ignoring some minor flaws that need to be fixed of course

That makes me so excited to hear! I pre-ordered next year's tickets, and I'm half tempted to do something Transformers related, but I'm not sure yet...I already have three costumes lined up to make this year, so we'll see.

Yeah...I want to redo the costume I wore this last NDK and make it with better fabric...I also want to go as Lin Baifong this Halloween, (which means I REALLY need to get on that. x.X) and the group I went with to NDK wants to do another group theme next year...
We'll see just how successful I am in pulling this off. XP I can't wait/hope to run into you next year!
