I liked this drawing of Sonic, and I already had the sketch scanned on my comp, so I R make a process sheet with a character that people like XD lol ( incase some forgot or are new, I did this with Oogtar here [link] )1- Sketch
2- Inked
3- Clean/Smooth out lines
4- Base color
5- Shaded~

in the third thing of sonic, how do you get the lines like that? I know that you draw the picture with pencil, then go over it with a sharpie, but how do you shape up the lines like that? If there is a tutorial I could watch on youtube, it would be helpful if you could find one for me because I don't know what you use for editing software. thanks again, and cool pic. heck, ALL your pics are awesome!

I go along the lines with the brush ( white of course ) and smooth it out myself. Takes a bit of time, but it comes out pretty nice in the end

May I ask how do you do the inking and shading parts? Is it all done by using Photoshop?

the inking is done by hand, but the clean up is in PS. the shading is done in PS as well.

To be honest, there isnt much to my shading. 
As for knowing where to add the shading, Im afraid I dont know how to explain it. I'm actually not that great at it myself a good number of times...I say check DA for some tutorails on shading. They can help you out more then I can

when you smooth out the lines, do you make another layer....or what?

I dont use layers. I just go along the lines with a white brush to clean it, then when im done ( cleaning/coloring and all that ) I just make the image smaller :3
