That's really cool! But wouldn't it be "Red and Pikachu" instead of "Ash and Pikachu"?

Yes, yes it would.

Red is the character in both games and manga. Ash is only a character in the anime. It's two different people, they have different pokΓ©mon and have different personalities.

Hi Nihonbashi, sorry for the late reply but have been away from the site for quite some time.Β These sprites I believe I had obtained from a website that no longer is up anymore sadly, but I'm sure you could still obtain them from a few other sprite collecting sites.Β www.spriters-resource.com/ seems to be an overall really decent one.Β Most of the time I rip my own sprites from roms using emulators and photoshop, but if I remember right I had found these cute sprites off a site.Β

I want to thank you in advance for making my life a million times easier. Explanation time: I'm into cross stitching and only just started going away from book patterns and trying some free hand designs, and what more do I love than pokemon!? So I tried to figure out what way to come across this, and then I ran into this bead work that basically lays out a way for me to "count the squares". Basically this is a nice solid format for me to follow. SO AGAIN- THANK YOU FOR MAKING LIFE EASIER FOR ME. <3 And in honor of it I will fave this ebcause it is cute anyway. =3

Good to read this!Β Glad you were able to find a practical use from this and many of the other awesome bead crafts people are making.Β I really do know what you mean though.Β When I'm working on converting sprites into artwork no matter the medium, the oddest part is counting the squares that make up each sprite.Β Β Many times I have to draw out grids using photoshop for each individual piece, to be honest I have also used some of my own bead sprites to do the same sprites on different materials haha.Β So definitely can understand the usefulness of them, besides how damn cute they look.Β ;DΒ Thanks again for the comment and happy to see they are helping you progress.Β Going to browse through your gallery and hope to see some of your stitch crafts!

If you were to recommend one, out of all the new pokemon games in the last couple years, which would u choose? I'm thinking about playing another one but would prefer to make sure I'm getting into something worth the time.

yellow(1st gen)
crystal(2nd gen)
emerald(3rd gen)
diamond and pearl(4th gen)[i still prefer the upcoming platinum thought]
the MAIN games are actually:
1st gen: blue, red, green(in japan only) and YELLOW
2nd gen: gold, silver, CRYSTAL
3rd gen: ruby, sapphire, EMERALD
4th gen: diamond, pearl, PLATINUM
the ones in caps have somewhat more features

if you loop a few metal rings into beads and string a chain through them, you can make some sweet necklaces.
which brings me to a question, are they glued together, or fused in some other way?
i ask because i've wanted to make something like this with other 8-bit video game sprites, but i don't know the method. any advice would make you even more awesome than you already are ^_^

nintentofu In reply to Leesie2k5 [2008-04-30 08:55:10 +0000 UTC]
Thank you Leesie2k5 for the nice idea. ;D I've thought about getting into making actual jewelry / apparel, etc. Just haven't got into it yet really.
As to answer your question, these particular beads are welded together by using an iron, on a low / medium heat setting. You use an iron safe piece of wax paper or something another (that comes with the beads) on top of the beads then lightly apply the iron in circle patterns for just a few seconds. It then literally melts the beads together. Which you afterwards let cool, and flip over n repeat.
The beads that I use are called "Perler Beads" but there are also many other brands that are pretty much the same thing. Plastic colored cylinders. ^__^ If your interested in using them, you can usually find them at a Craftsmart, or Micheals Craft store. Also Wal-Mart may sell them, but I usually prefer not to shop there. o_O!
