A painting created for Criminal Elements perfumery. I painted this to act as an illustration for the company's' newest fragrance, Sylphide. Created by Corey Newcombe, illustrated by myself, and named by Emily Atkins:
"Sylphide
The sylph is an air spirit associated with the forest and nature.
In the ballet, La Sylphide, the protagonist is visited by a sylph whilst sleeping and, even after she has disappeared, he can sense her presence around him. This being ultimately all too intriguing for his mortal senses, he cannot stop thinking about his encounter, finding this ethereal creature irresistible.
A good perfume has the same effect - it lingers in a person’s wake and inspires people to pause for a moment with its complexity.
Wearing this perfume was delightfully distracting. I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist, drawn to the sweet florals undercut by some seriously beguiling earthiness. The kind of scent which is both familiar and mysterious at the same time..."
