Description Ok, so there's a lot behind this drawing.   This was Blinx before Blinx, a concept design of him with noticeable differences from the final. I found him in an official guide book and thought it was pretty interesting. He's also in the Blinx 1 Prize art.

His jacket is more loose fitting, has two bells on string instead of one, visible stitching in the gloves and wears grey pants instead of red. He's isn't so colourful and looks less like a main character compared with his friends in Blinx 2.

Drawing wise, I merged my style with the style of the Blinx 1 concept art. Namely the eyes and cheek fur. The pose is also from the guide book.

For some reason I couldn't decide what colour blue to use for his jacket so you can see some different shades here: fav.me/da2rwrk

While drawing this I felt he was either younger Blinx with a different design or older Blinx but not so "edgy". Drawing this made me realise that even though I love Blinx in Blinx 2, I miss him when he was cute and running after human princesses. I realised a long while ago the way I draw Blinx merges his older self with his younger self so that he looks younger than Picaro, NecoJi etc. so I never feel like I'm not drawing Blinx as young and adventurous.

So, do you like this design more than his official one?

I like regular Blinx.

I'd say that I prefer the colours in the design that they actually used.  The blue/grey/white has its own appeal next to his fur, but I think the final colour scheme works better for a more important character in a game that's so colourful as a whole.  I could see this working for BLiNX 2, though, I suppose.  I can agree that about easily being able to see this as a BLiNX between the two games, though.  A bit more mature, more subdued, and still youthful instead of "hardened" or whatever you'd call him in the second game.
