Not that I read it all, but I have a lot of appreciation for these kinds of things. I mean, I have seen the older TV shows and things like that, just out of curiosity, but this stuff makes it look not only "stylish" but truly raw, the kind of rawness battle needs.

The TV shows and other things look a bit goofy in comparison with this. Not that those shows don't have their merit either...

It was done for a proposed animation series written by perennial favourite Grant Morrison called 18 days based on the 18 day Mahabharat war. Volume 1 of the concept book can be found on Amazon.

Hey, obviously I LOVE THIS ART, so thank you for that.

Is that book going to continue anytime soon? Cus I got that 18 Days book, but I haven't heard anything lately of it becoming a film or a "proper" comic or anything past the concept idea... just wondering if you know anything about that.

I'd be excited to see it. Oh, and I saw the mini cartoon series based on this.

Women didn't participate directly in the original Mahabharat epic, but since 18 days was a re-imagination we decided to incorporate women warriors .. we felt they would add a nice dimension to the animation series.

Ran(n) = means battle
Chandi is one of names of goddess Durga

Here I designed them as fierce women warriors who worship Durga/Kali and carry out her mandate in the battlefield.

It's not a "contest" proper to dA, it's a contest we hold every week at Warrior Spirit Group.
And this week is the end of the Summer challenge. Members will elect the Warrior of the Season among 3 previous winners.
