Money is ultimately the cause of evil, but mankind is programmed to be destructive, while not in every humans nature to kill and destroy it is there in most, and money just fuels this by way of corruption and greed.
There is far too much negativity in the world, in it's many forms... this last weekend was "open house" weekend in London... personally I could not think of anything more awful, but an open invitation to walk around the houses of people with lots of money showing off to everyone what amazing things they have and how much luck and success they have had in their lives, (negative I know but wait...) I wish them all the love and success in the world but clearly they don't need it as much as perhaps others in the world might, i see images of people living in shacks and drinking stinking disease ridden water, others being killed for not believing the right things (according to others)... what are we doing as a species .... where are we really going ... if not to our own destruction!

mhmm, i agree, humanity is bred to fight and kill, thats how we survived to become the dominant species. however, i believe that without the medium of universal currency this corruption would be a lot harder to spread
and i quote "I don't know what weapons WW III will be fought with, but WW IV will be fought with sticks and stones"

The world can be changed. It is changing. Maybe you hate the world because it's changing from the time you thought was just nice.
Or maybe just because it's changing.

Then it's a specific change you're referring to, to Change in general.

If you 'help' yourself, then people might help you too.

Mm... I dislike the way money rules our world too, but I think that we should still be able to trade services as well as money... Wouldn't it be good if two things cost the same, so you could trade them?
Also, RandomFact: Sausages were still legal tender in Germany until 1990.

hardly surprising, the germans used to carry their day's wages home in wheelbarrows. but if we have standard currency then no one is going to want to trade, choose, trade your loaf of bread for A. a pound of sausages B. a piece of metal that you can then trade for ANYTHING else, which would you go for?

Depends on how hungry I was and whether the sausages were cooked >.>

ok try this, you have a warm coat, two other people dont and are cold, one offers you money, the other offers you a set of gardening tools, which will you choose? taking into account that the tools are the only things of value he has to trade and the money is capable of being traded for almost anything.

mouseluva In reply to Niteshifter [2010-06-10 20:37:42 +0000 UTC]
Well, if you could trade anything for anything, it wouldn't matter. YOu could then trade the gardening tools on. So it wouldn't really matter; money would just be a backup for if you didn't want to give up objects, or had all that your heart desired and needed a salary or something.

someone might not want gardening tools though, if someone doesnt want what you're offering then they wont trade but if you have something that they can then buy what they want with then it would make a big difference

I guess. The others would probably be obsolete, but it would be good if the option was there...
