Description
So yeah.. I dreamt I was a vampire elf eating radioactive grapes. (We had to draw a dream for school.)This is the REAL colored version of this: [link] It's all realistic, (or would "rainbow" be a better word? XD; ) WoooOOOOoooOo. The skin was hard;;;

Actually, Copic Ciao markers are less expensive than regular Copics or most other art markers, because they're marketed towards beginners, even though they're pretty much the same as the other Copics. (They're just a bit slimmer so they hold less ink. But since you can refill them, it doesn't matter.)

The expression is also to die for! So innocent and surprised. I love the fact that the grapes match his eyes! I don't know how the BG was before, but looks perfect this way!

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Usually i can't stand it when people do the whole "i'm a vampire, mermaid, faery, elf, deamon, sucubus." I will more than completly allow it for this picture. The skin is supple and pale at the same time. A beautiful pale fruit. Not the easiest of tasks to pull of. But you did more than that, you aced it! FAVE FAVE FAVE!

Wow, you're getting really good at reflective coloring (I think that's what it's called >__o ). His shoulder on the right (Our right) is kinda high up. I know you can't exactly change it now, but for later reference. Anwyay, the coloring is really awesome in this and I like how you did the branches.

Oh god, this is really gorgeous. I have always adored the way you ink, with the different weights all around, and this is just amazing. The way you colored his skin is just...so wonderful. The seamless blending of your markers...god. How do you do that with copics? I can't seem to do that. Trias work best for me, but I think that's because they're less alcohol-based than copics.
I also agree with what loish said about the background. I think that'd be rather easy to fix, though. If you took a warm grey 40% (or something in that family) and just wen over the background in one single layer, it'd probably help wash out the saturation of the pink. Also, reds seem to scan horribly for some reason, so that could have something to do with it as well. I know my marker drawings never come out as pretty as they do in real life.
But really, darlin', this is gorgeous. Simply gorgeous.

Oooh, it was way worse before, the pink I mean. XD;; (See the pink on his collar bone? Like that.) I actually think I've gotten it how I want it. Maybe it just looks good to me because I'm used to how bright it was before, but I think if I made it any more grey I wouldn't like it as much.. (I'm trying to do something about my addiction to bright colors.. I'm aware they aren't always the best choice, but..
And the skin.. took a looot of working to make it look smooth. *_*; I used a ton of colors, it was a real work-out. XD Thank you for the super-sweet comment.

i adore your original style and i like watching you improve, because you build up your skills in an interesting way. a lot of people just start from shapeless uninteresting blobs of people and somehow move on from there (like i did D: ), but you really started out with an original flair and interesting and stylized approach to your work and developed that as you went along. it's really something special! i like it.
as for critiques on this, i love how it's colored and how you bring different shades into the skin, but i also think that the colors in the background are too much.. the maroon/grey and turquoise combo is really beautiful in your flat colored one but here the colors don't have as much harmony. i think if the background was made a bit less saturated and maybe lighter, or at least flatter, it would bring that out again.
but i'm sure it looks better in real life, scanned versions - even edited - don't always have the same subtlety and harmony of color as the real life versions...
also your technique is amazing.. better than i could ever do..

And I see what you mean now, looking at it again, the bg is a bit intense. I might mess with that. I tried to keep the pattern subtle, but a part of me that I can't control really likes contrast. XD;;;

Wow, this is beautiful. That's really weird about being a guy in your dreams most of the time. That's like how I only dream in black and white, but I "know" what color everything is. Like if I was at a stop light I'd know whether it was green or red, you know?
Anyway, your art has inspired me to be less realistic, because for some reason I always feel like my art teacher expects super realism out of me, and I don't feel like all art has to be that way.
