how do u think up your ideas?

I really had to ponder this. I don't have a set system of idea generation. I typically come up with an idea in one of two ways.
1. Pure inspiration - it just hits me from out of the blue or something I hear/see will pop an image into my head that starts the wheels in motion.
2. I have an existing starting point (like knowing which character I want to draw) and then start brainstorming character related scenarios.

Harley & Ivy began with method #2. With a starting point of two characters I just started imagining scenarios that are consistent with the characters. My first idea didn't make the cut. I was originally going to draw Harley tied up with vines by Ivy as a punishment for shooting her on the backside. I sketched it out and didn't like it. The final piece was my second idea and I liked it because having Harley cause mischief from a hiding place (trying not to get caught) added another level of storytelling.

I'm sure I'm leaving things out but this is generally how I approach it. I'm lucky in the sense that ideas are fairly easy for me to create. The real challenge for me is following through on the pure labor which is required to make the ideas come to completion.

Thank you for asking!

That's very cool. I hope you get that idea for having Harley tied up with vines. Going a way that you like it. I hope we can keep in touch.
I hope to hear from you again.

Thank you! I'm making an effort to imbue more storytelling into my single image illustrations. I think it's a lot more fun this way.
