Ellie Baker, who goes by the pseudonym Gretchen, is a teenage girl who temporarily transferred to Casper High while claiming to be an exchange student from Hungary. According to data of Michigan Residents, Ellie was actually dropped out of school because of troubles she caused while copying fellow students' appearances and lifestyle in a form of admiration and idolization. In her first appearance under the name Gretchen, Sam was smitten with her as claims to share many of his interests. At first, Danni was suspicious of her as whenever "Gretchen" was around the Group of White would appear to hunt Danni Phantom, resulting in belief that Ellie must be hired by them to find her.

However, when the attack of Group of White comes, frightened Ellie accidentally revealed herself not to be Hungarian and not even a "Euro-Goth". In which, she and Sam broke up. Eventually, she confessed to Danni and her friends that she is from Michigan and all her false act was to get Sam to like her. Surprisingly, she was indeed hired as SPY but not by Group of White...as she admitted she was sent to Amity Park by "Lord Plasmius". It is also revealed she dyed her white hair and used green color lens on her eyes due to her idolization of Danni Phantom. Despite the troubles around, Ellie is actually a friendly girl who was insecure with her own lifestyle and wanted to be accepted by people. Becoming one of several people who knows Danni being a half-ghost, she promised to keep the secret while Danni helped her leave Amity Park with her mother, away from Plasmius.
