I use sai so I just play with the settings.... recently my gf has sent me some of her brush settings and i used a few of them here! it really just comes down to practice!! try a grainier/more brush-stroke kind of brush and just use it a lot, its a good start

tysm, I played around with the graininess of my usual brush and sweet lordie lou i love how i was able to do my character's markings for the first time in heckin idk how long
