Description So the Guardians of Childhood book set arrived and I doodled this after reading them. Meh. Thought I'd post.

This is why you should never volunteer for anything.

You'd think they set up like ROUNDS or something!

Someone's headcanon (or it was from the books, since I didn't read them, I get the gist tho) was that he was willing to put up with that crap while his soldiers returned to rebuild, they needed as many people and everyone wanted to stay with their family.

But srsly with a job like this you NEED moral support

I've honestly never understood this. You'd think the universe's evil would warrant more than a single guard. This is some flipping Pandora shiz here.

Yeah man, they were totally asking for something bad to happen :/

That's why I like the theory that Tsar Lunar did it to Pitch on purpose. Though honestly, I'm suspicious of the whole Lunar family. Especially after Manny tried to get Jack to be a Guardian KNOWING Jack didn't have any believers and Guardians fade if they don't have any! Attempted murder anyone?

nnaj In reply to MischiefSpirit [2014-02-05 15:37:23 +0000 UTC]

Well no because if Manny left him alone Jack would have died anyway. Given the evidence he probably wanted to watch him suffer.

Why would Jack have died anyways?

Maybe the Tsar Lunar agreed to it...and hence when he became Pitch Black he decided to destroy him and his wife...and claim baby MiM for his own.

The newest Guardian book tells us more about why he volunteered to look after all of them alone....Gods the FEELS keep coming and coming.

Yeah I guess that's pretty tragic but it still seems like a bad idea to only leave one guy to look after all the evil while everybody goes to party or whatever.

Golly oh gee. YOU THINK?

nnaj In reply to ks-claw [2013-06-06 16:59:13 +0000 UTC]

They should have thought of that before

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Tona1 [2013-04-16 14:04:54 +0000 UTC]

Oh gosh! I did thought this too. It just seems nonsense to leave him on his own, I just keep wondering why didn't they guard it by turns..

I feel really bad for Pitch because none of this would have happened if someone else would have helped back then..

baronessofblades In reply to Tona1 [2013-07-24 16:03:33 +0000 UTC]

Maybe they had shifts? I imagine it was one more week before he saw his daughter, and he was keeping himself sane and happy by looking at her picture...and the Fearlings smelt his will faltering and fell upon it like vultures on a dying animal....

Tona1 In reply to baronessofblades [2013-07-26 11:12:13 +0000 UTC]

I wish they had! And maybe they did! But still, I keep feeling he was left there, all on his own. Alone. hahha I guess mine's too sad..

Love your theory too!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

baronessofblades In reply to Tona1 [2013-07-26 17:02:59 +0000 UTC]

My theory also added that along with his daughter's voice, they mimicked his wife's too....My headcanon was that she died because of a family curse/Fearling and he blames himself for not being able to save her.Imagine, along with "Daddy...I am so scared", he hears " Koz? Darling...Darling..." and on the worst days, "You hate me don't you? For being there? For being so weak?" or even "I hate you! Why weren't you there?" Enough to shatter a strong soul.

Tona1 In reply to baronessofblades [2013-08-02 14:04:23 +0000 UTC]

oh gosh! but that'd be too sad! I like to imagine him with a really happy family, but it's true that your theory has much more sense than he leaving his family behind to guard the door for the rest of his days. I guess such a thing is accepted when you've got nothing else to lose, or you think so..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

baronessofblades In reply to Tona1 [2013-08-02 20:27:09 +0000 UTC]

Maybe that's why he immediately volunteered...Not wanting to lose anyone else to the Fearlings.

Akazukinchan In reply to nnaj [2013-01-31 00:48:48 +0000 UTC]

I always felt bad for Pitch because he was a victim of extremely poor planning. I mean what did he tell his family. "Hey guys. I know the war is over and stuff, but I now have to spend the rest of my life guarding this one door. So I won't be home for dinner." Also, did they really need a guard standing there 24/7? It didn't seem like the evil could get out on their own and had to rely on someone opening that door. Obviously they could have outnumbered Pitch the moment they escaped. Sorry if I'm rambling I just can't help but ask why.

nnaj In reply to Akazukinchan [2013-01-31 23:25:16 +0000 UTC]

I know dude 0_0 That is exactly what I thought. They had robots back then. Why couldn't a robot stand guard? And crazy magics. Make a magic guardian!
I'm kinda hoping there's something we're not being told. Because once my brain recovered from the "that's so sad" it went into "this doesn't make sense" mode.
