Waaah I'm questioning everything now! But I love this explanation so much, it's what I'm choosing to believe until canon tells me otherwise.

It's after he rolls off the truck I guess.

pyromaniac042 In reply to nnaj [2012-02-04 17:13:26 +0000 UTC]
but if he rolled off we'd see it'd be at a kinda angle because the truck wasn't that high & he'd be closer to the edge of the street. i guess he could've crawled over closer to the building but, we saw him fall straight down.
wait, & how could he reach the truck anyway? he fell straight down. he would've had to run & jump to be able to reach the truck.
ok, maybe he did hit the ground, but he landed on some kind of padding. then your theory would work. but i don't think he landed in that truck.

(Q: Is it just to get some supplies like the blood or does he trust her with his plan? If so why doesn't he trust John with his plan?)
I think the reason is essentially because he knew that John would be targeted by the assassins. Molly is the only person that "matters" to him, who he trusts, who wasn't on that list. (Though, like you, I'm inclined to think he roped Mycroft into the plot too...) So she would be free to help Sherlock unobserved.
I don't think the bicyclist was a red herring, because it's not really... important enough to be one? If it was intentional, it bought Sherlock extra time, if it wasn't, it was just... a helpful coincidence. Which doesn't seem right considering Sherlock's attention to detail/the writers' determination to make everything Sherlock does look planned and exact. XDD
And as for why Moriarty's dudes wouldn't have assassinated Sherlock's friends anyway... well, that'd cast suspicion on the manner of Sherlock's death, made it look less like a suicide. Moriarty wouldn't have wanted that, and as for the killers themselves, they're hired professionals, unlikely to go beyond what Moriarty had instructed.

nnaj In reply to AriadneArca [2012-01-23 21:24:01 +0000 UTC]
Hm, all good points XD
I mention the cyclist because for researching this comic I ended up reading through lots of different theories and a good portion of them had the cyclist in there. "Funny things with the camera" is my favoured explanation for him though.
What about Moriarty's people wanting to take revenge? I'm sure they could do it in a way that wouldn't draw too much suspicion.

AriadneArca In reply to nnaj [2012-01-23 21:30:03 +0000 UTC]
After posting that, I realised that it would be hilarious if it were a red herring after all, and picked up on next season -
Sherlock: Cyclist? Don't be an idiot, John.
And, true! But I don't think Moriarty would have hired men he didn't trust to do exactly what he said, and with Sherlock and his friends being such public figures, someone (even just a conspiracy theorist) would have noticed something...

Hmm... I've read somewhere that it was officially said the following about this episode: "When Moriarty shot himself, Sherlock did something that he would never do in normal state". Lots of guesses, but... never know how it's going to be really.

CarryPhoenix In reply to nnaj [2012-01-23 21:14:48 +0000 UTC]
Em... no. Something before the "fatal" jump. Somebody thought that "he would never do" is the "panic attact" just after the shot. And crying.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I actually did see that quote before but like Ari I can't figure it out :/ Sherlock CAN fake emotions on demand though...
