Description Here's that painted unmasked version many moons later...

This is the Alan Scott, Golden Age Green Lantern, head I sculpted for DC Direct’s 1:6 scale action figure line last year. Alan Scott is the original version of the Green Lantern character (that existed way before Hal Jordan) and I was tasked to make him look like the pulp heroes of that timeframe. I gathered a ton of reference and tried to make him a combination of all of the major actors of that day.

Again, these type of heads have that very exaggerated skin texture for a reason. During production the heads are cast in a semi-translucent flesh-toned resin and the surface ends up becoming slightly obscure. The look of the skin texture becomes much more subtle and appears very realistic at this really small scale.

This copy was cast in translucent flesh colored resin and painted by the incredibly talented Wan Lee also known as “Lalla”. Wan is crazy awesome and it’s easy to see why. This head looks like it could be life-size when really it’s only 1.5 inches tall. That’s MAD SKILL right there!

So much props to Wan Lee, and if you want to see more from him check out his blog [link]  which is filled with tons of photos of him working his magic. Dude is a serious stud!

The promotional photos of the finished figure can be seen on DC Direct’s website here [link]
