Graduation Project: Urban Transplant
Reusing old cement plant facilities as a generator for urban renewal - Nesher, Israel

The project is dealing with the re-use of the aging "Nesher" cement plant, as a tool for urban renewal of the area.
Nowadays, the city of Nesher is lacking an actual urban center. The plant, which functioned as the center of the city, has deteriorated and today is almost inactive. This situation is an opportunity to establish and create a new urban center, with the use of the existent plant infrastructures.
The project focuses on the plant's main shed, a 250 meter long structure, which is transformed into a vast exterior space, along which a main street was planned, comprised of various public functions.
The project constitutes the first phase of an urban strategy, aimed to transform further plant's facilities into parts of the future urban center. In its progressive phases the strategy expands through other areas set between the plant and the city, until a full formation of an urban sequence is accomplished.
