I really, really love the shine in their hair !!! O.O
Did you achieve that in blender? Via environment map?

I had no idea you could get the ffxiv models into blender.
Really great job!

Thanks
I use Blender, and Luxrender for rendering.
Luxrender has really nice materials, and allows you to combine different materials together.

For hair, I first start with a 50/50 material mix of glossy-transluscent combined with silk charmeuse (at 1k warp/weft values).
Depending on the scene and lighting, I may skew the mixture to more glossy-transluscent or more silk.
All the hair in my other renders are also of this mixture.

Those shampoo commercials about silky shiny hair really are true.  Haha!
That's how I thought about using silk materials for the hair.

Hair diffuse and normal maps are typically what comes with the model, and I may photoshop the diffuse to change the hair color.
No spe /env/other maps came with the model and I don't have any of those applied.

I would think that similar materials can be set up in Cycles, but I've only dabbled with it.

It's been awhile since I extracted an FFXIV model, and it's been a bit tricky.  You have to build up a character from multiple body parts and piece them together.
Maybe it's easier now.

This was the last extraction tool I used:

You are so incredibly sweet for going into detail like that!
Personally, these days, I am working a lot with blender eevee and have to say I love it.

But I think I'll have a look at that luxrender at one point!
Thank you so much for this answer.
I really, really appreciate it.
