looks nice tho!! the colors are really great ;o; i think the background needs more detailed texture and more contrast if that makes sense? :0

yeah i see what you're saying-
im just at a loss for how to do that, is what my deal is ._. i cant figure out how to add detail without it looking stupid and inconsistent

ah that makes sense :'0 personally i struggled for a long time with that and i just finally figured out that i need to add most details slowly, carefully, and by hand lol, idk what would work best for you tho β₯

hey how long does a background piece, fully done, take for you?Β just so I can get an estimate to if i'm spending enough time?

depends on what's in the background; if it has a lot of objects/stuff it can take probably around 3-8 hours??? or more lol
whereas if it's only something like a simple sky with clouds i can usually bang it out in less than an hour or two

okay! that makes sense, I feel a lot better then
I've been under the impression that I need to do one a day or i'll never improve
hey question what do you do for tree/bush leaves?

ah heck no it's pretty rare for me to get a background done in a day (unless i have all day to draw which is great xD)
for leaves and stuff, i usually put down a basic layer of color using any good leaf stamp brush, and then start adding in details by hand to make the leaves pop :0 idk if that makes sense lol

this is so cute!! the background and general feeling is actually super nice? i looove the pink/red tint, it has such a sentimental vibe
but! if it's about how well they match/suit each other that's bothering you then you could try either softer lines to make the characters more paint-y to fit in with the more blended bg, or add some hard/bold lines to the bg
i'm REALLY not great at it but kinda like thisΒ www.furaffinity.net/view/30205β¦Β !! at first the character stood out really badly against the softer bg so i "painted" him as well so everything would mix better
or! a way quicker way of blending stuff is just using the blur tool on some parts of the lineart lol
www.furaffinity.net/view/29939β¦Β that's what i used here!

eek idk if this helps but-- if you overlap the grass with the cats they feel more a part of the background? and if you overlay the whole drawing with the same color it also helps it all go together? it looks amazing though :0
