God, that's amazing, I atleast expected 3 hours. ._. I mean i never have the courtesy on working hard on something to where it's more than 40 minutes of work, but still it wouldn't look half as good as this, nice.

haha its all thanks to the brush I figured out. Usually it takes me a lot longer to get something like this.
I also kind of just let go and did whatever came to me on the spot. I didn't plan at all. I highly recommend trying that

Yep. That's completely true, you use photoshop i assume? @_@ I just use the normal, brushes, I'm a lost cause when It comes to brush tinkering.
Looks great though, especially with that amount of time spent, makes it seem even better.
Any tips on painting in Photoshop? I am not really the best at it, I try to paint something i drew, looks a bit odd, i try to add on more shades, etc, and I end up with something that looks like Clifford.

I don't actually. I use Krita which is a program that people say is similar to corel painter, but its free
I only changed a few settings to get the brush I like. But it took me a while to find them and get it right. Makes me really appreciate the people who post brush packs online.

What works best for me when I draw digitally is using brushes that have blend or mixing properties. it helps me lay down colors and textures very quickly. Then I go in and smooth it out or add fur details. What takes the longest for me is adding those details. I've tried Photoshop, Paint tool sai and now Krita. I get very similar results between programs when I find the right brushes! To figure out which brushes work for me I usually create a large canvas and go through the entire list testing them out and seeing how they interact with other colors and with different opacity settings. Then I group the ones I like most for easy access and pretty much only use those. When I draw I usually have super sketchy linework as a guide and then I just color and usually move away from the sketch as I continue adding details.

haha if you don't already I'd suggest using references. Best way to learn to draw something is to do studies (in my opinion)
well I'm not sure what you may be doing wrong, since I haven't seen any of your works. But I'll try to give just general advice for starting out(my own and ones I've read).
-When you first start out I would suggest doing studies of a single picture. (if you post the drawing make sure to credit the owner of the photo)
-first try to sketch it out in the right proportions. flip the drawing horizontally once in a while to check if it looks right. You sometimes get used to seeing a picture one way and when you flip it you see the mistakes more.
-you can bring the image into the program you are using and pick the colors directly from there (I haven't done this but I know a lot of people work that way)
-Its good to layout lighting using black and white, that way you can make sure the contrast brings attention to the places you want to be most noticeable.
-Practice~ seriously. even if it sucks. everytime you draw you will learn something new and can apply that next time. if you keep it up you can compare drawings that are months apart and see improvement!
if you still have trouble, I have read that people will bring in a photo into the program and trace over it on another layer trying to recreate it right on top of it. But, I would only do this as practice for myself and wouldn't post that anywhere.

I actually just started a random robot sketch on the program
and I'm about to paint it, basically saying all hell is going to break loose
right about now@! 8D.

yeah they have really nice default brushes! I use a lot of those. Deevad's brush packs are very good too
