This is just a random alien-ish creature I drew.Not too happy with how it turned out though.. I think it looks too 2D..
[edit] I decided to make him eyeless - figured that was a tad creepier instead of those big, red puppy eyes...

Wicked! This has kind of the Giger's Alien look to it but far different with the overall design. Like the sepia tones too, makes it look more vintage and eerie.

I actually thought fossil when I saw this. I think what you need are some wacky colors and poignant light sources. I see orange and purple/pink colors fitting nicely here.

neat, yeah he looks good without eyes. and i think if you added more contrast in the darker areas that might help make it look less 2D-ish? its cool, reminds me of a Tyranid from Warhammer 40000
