great, but for an "Alien" being some parts of the Astarapomp looks familiar like the human limbs, the noses and mouths and the other echinoderms, however the Whistling Being at the bottom corner is the most alien-looking of the bunch, i imagine there may be a possibility that the Astarapomp could be a posthuman from the distant future with the hub having many uplifted echinoderms and a semi-sapient Whistling Being.

oh, there is a very good reason for the Astarapomp having human features on an echinoderm body...

what is your reason?, i already read the story and i think convergent evolution is incredibly unlikely for the Astarapomp when having human features, i have another idea, in which the Astarapomp is trying to look like a human but failing.

Well, you'll have to wait for the story to unfold a little more to find out.

Woah! Very cool. Reminds me of the Voynich Manuscript a lil bit.

Thank you. The Voynich Manuscript was another big influence.

I love how there's that whistling creature among all these creatures who appear to be echinoderms seemingly transported from earth. perhaps some form of trans-universal rift brought them?

I'm glad you like it. Regarding the whistling being- I very much did want a completely bizarre creature among the echinoderms to hint that aliens in this story really are alien-looking. And thus imply there is something unusual about the fact that these hub creatures look like Earth echinoderms. There is indeed a reason for that.

also, what is the "walking salute"? is it some kind of echinoderm or a native creature?

solutes are a kind of echinoderm in the Homalozoa class. They are weird asymetric echinoderms with a tentacle at one end and a stiff, pointed "style" at the other.
