Description #finalfantasyxv #ffxv #lunafreya

Test render of Lunafreya.
There's a total of 718,615 vertices, and around 1.3 million tris. That's despite removing doubles on every object, and convert tris into quads. Holy cow!
The average DOA model has about 300,000 vertices, with subsurf modifiers at level 1.
Some tris could not be converted directly to quads, however, as it causes UV errors. I am not proficient enough to unwrap UVs yet.

Rendered with Blender Cycles, 500 samples at 4K.
I have not added in SSS yet, or the skin node setup. Will need to see what the model textures are capable of first. In any case, it took about 39 minutes to render with a simple setup.
I shall test out Luna with deexie's Palette Stage.

for the hair bangs

Rendering FFXV Characters (the right way)So... are your making a render, and you are using... for example, Noctis.

(Assuming you set up your materials) But we notice some errors.
- Eyes too dark.
- That Hair problem.
- Normals may look weird.

Those are easy things to fix.
1. Remove unnecesary meshes.
Some of those meshes are just there to its use on XPS (backface, shine effect, etc.). Assuming you are using my models (some of them needs a pretty big update e.e), you have to delete three meshes.
Backfaces

Duplicated meshes (to make mesh look stronger, it's just the same mesh with another name like "Hair 2/Alt")
Shine effects (Eyes or some metals, for example).

3. Light Paths
Default

What to fix

See? It is now cool!
And after a retouch...

Sounds like it's gonna need some serious polyoptimization.  Still, it DOES look nice ....
