Portrait of Little Skye. Daughter of Moon Dancer, Little Skye was the first American Indian Song Dog to leave North America. Photographed at Baikiehowe, Aberdeen for Sarah Harrison who looks after Little Skye and her mate Highland Storm.

Meeting this dog was quite an experience. Song Dogs are not a breed as such but a line of working dogs used by the American Indians since long before Columbus (or the Vikings). Part coyotte it's tall and lanky, easily out running the local red and roe deer. But despite this Little Skye was both the most obviously intelligent and affectionate animal I've ever met. She's also a movie star having appeared in several well known films including Braveheart.
