This celebrity doll repaint was inspired by the delicately distinctive beauty of British actress Keira Knightley.
I used a 16-inch Elizabeth Swann doll here produced by Robert Tonner Doll company - a finely made facial sculpt but the facial paint was something I found quite unsatisfactory and which I felt did not really reflect the character portrayed by Keira nor captured her likeness.
So, I completely removed factory facial painting and hand painted it to bring the likeness of Ms. Knightley to life. The doll's hair has been partially rerooted with additional hair as some of the areas were sparsely rooted. Then I gave her hair a soft perm for just some very subtle waves.
The top right inset photo shows the doll as it looked originally before repainting.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

I'm glad that you captured her trademark pout and refined her nose. I'd love to see a doll of Keira as Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice! I love her with dark hair and those smoky eyes, sooo gorgeous in that film.
I think people on Ebay should see the before-and-after as well as those on dA. Seeing them side by side, it's even more obvious just how incomparable your repaints are to the factory versions.
