History:
Darell grew up in Oakland, California, the third most violent city in the United States. He spent a majority of his life in a neighborhood referred to as "Chinatown" for its rich Asian American culture. Growing up he picked up a little bit of basic mandarin, and got his first job at the local "Shan Dong Restaurant".

Life for the most part was tough. He lived in a crappy single room apartment with his mother, older brother, and younger brother. All of them held jobs when they could, but living in America on minimum wage wasn't livable wage. Because of this, it was hard for his older brother not to get sucked into the world of drugs and gun violence. Influenced by his brother, Darell took part from time to time, but all together thought it more selfish to risk his life and his families than to make extra money, and eventually talked him out of it.

He found more comfort in singing and communicating the "tough life" in song rather than taking out aggressions on the streets. He went to the train entrances and sang there for extra money whenever he could, developing his hobby and soon a passion. He kept it hidden in school to preserve an image, and took basketball despite wanting so badly to be in choir.

Despite the rough living conditions, Darell was thought of fondly by his peers in school, and his mother stood by him with everything he did. His family was close knit, and they stuck together through thick and thin. Darell found out about World Star Hip-Hop Academy through an ad in his younger brother's middle school. Despite only having one year of high school left, he thought it'd be a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a singer and to pick up his family from rubble to riches. He decided to drop everything in pursuit of his dream. His mom encouraged him, saying, "Baby you can be whatever you want, have whatever you want, and do whatever you want in this life when you got a heart as big as yours."
