Man, I leave for 1 day and so much happens... I have to try and catch up. I'm probably going to just delete everything :TANYWAYS!! This is Akeno, he is going to be apart of a PMD-based ask blog I'm starting. I'll upload parts of the story as I do them. I'm so excited to start this, you have no idea. >v< PS He is both a Quilava and Typhlosion, but any other details on him will probably stay on the blog unless mentioned in the story (meaning I post it here). Like his white/blue flames and eyes and his scarf origins will be in the story, but height and stuff will not be so you'll know the important stuff.
More stuff you don't need to read: My last Quilava did not make me happy, so this is to make up for it. A much better version, and now I know how I'll draw Quilava from now on. He is an official OC!

I have both and Viewtiful Joe is uniquely awesome plus its a good theaterΒ study when it comes to the VFX. However its too little.

How is he both a Quilava and a Typhlosion? Is evolution in your OC's story a natural transition, like he's just growing into one instead of evolving?

I suggest looking at the last paragraph as it is a simple explanation, the first is complex, and the link is much more in depth to how evolution and breeding works in the story.
Well, there is a gradual transition for evolving in the story but for him it is a different reason. In the story, Pokemon and their evolutions have a much more complex breeding system. In this case, his parents were a Quilava and Typhlosion and ended up with him as a Cyndaquil/Quilava, evolving into what you see know a Quilava/Tyhlosion. Β He was born part Quilava because the Pokemon don't necessarily start at Stage 1, they can be partly any Pokemon from their current stage and before. So he could have been born a Cyndaquil/Typhlosion but wasn't. As for the evolution, since he is 50% Cyndaquil and 50% Quilava and both can evolve by 1 stage and he does have this gene preventing evolution, he evolved form a Cyndaquil to Quilava and Quilava to Typhlosion.Β

If that still doesn't help, I'll put it in another perspective:
Imagine the tree types of Poodles, Toy (Cyndaquil), Miniature(Quilava), and Standard(Typhlosion). Now a Miniature Poodle and a Standard Poodle have puppies but they look like as if they were Toy and Miniature puppies(Cyndaquil and Quilava), but as they grow (Evolve) they become the Miniature/Standard Poodles (Quilava/Typhlosion). Although, this might not happen every time. Sometimes there may be a puppy who already looks like a Miniature and Standard and never needed to grow. In this scenario, Akeno would be a Toy/Miniature who "grew" to a Miniature/Standard.
