I'm all for alternate versions of the story, but not until the original has been around long enough to warrant a reimagining. I mean, PGSM came out 10 years after the manga and anime had established enough of a fanbase to allow it.
If America wanted so badly to make their own version of Sailor Moon, then they should've waited longer to get the American fanbase going first. That and not make their version so much of a blatant Power Rangers knock-off (we had plenty of those in the 90s as it was).

You know, going on the previous picture alone, the only thing that was really lost was the "rabbit" motif of Usagi's hair. The show would've bombed had it been created, sure, but the Sailor Moon design itself wasn't TOO bad.
I can't help but wonder if the sailboat thing was intentionally done to tie in with the name, mostly because of the lack of a similar schoolgirl uniform in North America, or if it was a misunderstanding based on the name. Still, it could've been a way for the Sailor Soldiers to bring the fight to the baddies for a change and possibly level the playing field against some bad guys (which the Sailor Teleport couldn't really do). *Will most likely be shot for this part of the post, but overall, ToonMakers' idea still would've sucked as a whole.*

I think the sailboat thing was a neat idea, even though it was probably just made up to sell toys. XD Interestingly, there was a weird vehicle called the "Moon Cycle" produced by Bandai America in 1995 to go with the 6" doll line. It never appeared in the series... I've always wondered if they took the idea from the Toon Makers pilot.

I got the highest quality version I could find, then I spent a good hour or so trying to find a program for Windows Vista that would extract frames from movie files. After that, I went through the bajillion frames and deleted the duplicates. I ended up with some decent pictures, but I'm not sure if it was worth all the effort. XD
... my exuse is boredom. X3
I really do wish the actual pilot was available to the public though... watching it would be like going to a parallel universe. XD
