Great work!
Reportedly, Jagger once said once (about 1969 or so) "I used to think I was ugly, but now I'm not sure."

That honestly doesn't surprise me at all. He's in darn good shape considering his age.

areas of shading are too light in some areas and far too heavy in others eg that gully on his cheek.
his eyes also appear uneven with his right eye looking as if it is bulging out.

Not sure that I completely agree with this one. I re-compared the drawing to the original image and the gully is very close to being the same. It could do with a little more darkness to the left of it but otherwise I think it's okay personally. Thanks for your input though.

Looking at the image, tonewise I think under the chin needs to be as dark as the gully but the gully needs to be lighter: it isn't as dark as you think.

The chin definitely does need to be darker. I can lighten up that gully a bit but I think the real solution is to darken ever so slightly the area to the left of the gully. I noticed that it was much too light. I must say, my new monitor certainly doesn't help for contrast and tone. I almost wish I had my CRT back again.
