OK, the truth is, this period is quite complex so sorry for the lousy three panel exposition.

In 1878 the Treaty of San Stefano ended the Russo-Turkish War. Russia imposed severe conditions to the Ottoman Empire and giving large territorial benefits to Bulgaria. Fearing the increase of Russian influence in the Balkans, Austria-Hungary and Great Britain opposed to this Treaty. The result was the signing of a new Treaty in Berlin the same year, hosted by Otto von Bismarck. The Treaty of Berlin was instead clearly favorable to Austro-Hungarian interests.
Russia considers this a hostile action, so, he leaves the Three Emperors League.

The trio downs to two---> DUAL ALLIANCE (1879) among Germany and Austria, who want to preserve themselves from a possible Russian attack. And, in case of attack from a third nation, promise to keep neutrality.

Meanwhile, Russia is alone and, before he gets closer to France, Bismarck decides to regain him as an ally. In 1881, and secretly from Austria, Bismarck convinces the new Russian Tsar Aleksandr III to come back to the League.

TRIPLE ALLIANCE---> In 1882, Italy is in bad terms with France because of the colonies in Northern Africa. Secretly from Russia, there´s a new alliance signed by Italy, Austria and Germany.

(aw, it´s  Ludwig and Feli )

Bismarck gets what he always wanted: conservative policies for keeping the peace among European nations and an isolated France. Everything is peachy. Though, in 1887 a new treaty is signed:

THE REINSURANCE TREATY

Bismarck suspects Russia could be approaching to France, so Germany signs a new treaty with Russia secretly from Austria. In case of Austro-Russian war, Germany promises to remain neutral, and Russia promises to remain its neutrality in case of a French-German war.

Dammit, I had to redo this page three times. It took for ages zzzz

Just noticed... West here is much less.. he feels less angry in this comic. I know, it was never really his trait, but he always had that air. Not a complaint, just an observation.

I'm waiting for the part where Ottoman Empire will join Central Powers.it can be a interesting dialog because of the all the things that happened in Balkans.

Yes, those silly alliances are giving me a headache... and that's how Prussia started to elaborate his awesome "Schlieffen's plan".

Great story. it is good to read something that explain us how a conflict between Austria and Serbia managed to involve the entire world. I am from Belgium and our great-grandparents didn't see it coming. They never thought a single second that a neutral country at the other side of Europe like Belgium would become one of the first victims of that war alongside Serbia.

Yeah, that was a hard time for Belgium and nearly impossible to see it coming.

You mean if there will be more pages? Sure, after the German flashback thing comes the Agadir Crisis, one cause of WWI, and then the other part of July Crisis and war declarations >.<

About that virus thing you posted, you think it may be my PC's problem or something? (I don't know nearly anything about computers) That sounds bad

I think the virus came from one of the ad on dA. So I don't think it's your computer.

The colonies themselves were not too pleased about this development either.

Noive In reply to Ikechi1 [2014-08-12 21:19:08 +0000 UTC]

No, they weren´t >.< Actually, it´s hard thinking about Europe discussing how to divide the African territories among themselves without considering them as if the peoples didn´t have opinion. Well, that kind of things still happen today, but yeah, I´d feel furious if some foreign guys decide how to seize my homeland and push me away. Hard, really hard

Ikechi1 In reply to Noive [2014-08-12 23:15:50 +0000 UTC]

well that's why I'm handling hetalian history from the point of view of the African colonies . Also again, sorry if your piece does not get accepted to historical hetalia as there are still some things to sort out but when it is all sorted I will request that your pieces be added. Also are you familiar with the hetalia comics made by dinosaurusgede called maaf? It features the east asian history

Noive In reply to Ikechi1 [2014-08-13 16:07:07 +0000 UTC]

Yes, sure I know it! that's an awesome doujin every European hetafan should read! (At least, it's teaching me a lot of interesting (and sometimes hilarious) facts about Asian colonial life. You know, I almost didn't study any Asian nor African History at school. -_-U
We didn't study American History either, just how we lost all our Colonies. And sincerely, we didn't deserve them, just made crap there >.👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ikechi1 In reply to Noive [2014-08-13 21:56:08 +0000 UTC]

well not to self promote, but I upload info on tribes in Nigeria and there history every now and then like ikechi1.deviantart.com/art/Gov… because for too long many people assumed the history of the African continent was purely full of ignorant savages and uncultured buffoons that needed the Europeans to uplift them. Hell back in Nigeria they didn't teach us Nigerian history (as it was deemed non-essential) but British history instead. I had to find the history of my tribe and others all on my own >.<

That's so sad, but you did an awesome work with those characters outfits. Do you intend to draw some Historical event comic with them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ikechi1 In reply to Noive [2014-08-14 13:04:37 +0000 UTC]

I plan to, but I doubt I'll have the time to actually draw all of them which is why I hope to find someone interested enough to help because I have my hands full with life and the dinosaur comics I've been making so all I've been doing is just uploading tribes and their individual histories and maybe some other segment.

Noive In reply to Ikechi1 [2014-08-16 18:08:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh I understand that feeling, actually it's kinda difficult manage to update one single comic frequently and I made the mistake of drawing two, now the other is on hiatus >.< nevertheless, a hetadoujin about african nations would be cool to make many people think different about Africa (hetalia made me feel interest for real Baltic nations XD before I didn't know a single thing about them )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ikechi1 In reply to Noive [2014-09-16 12:37:34 +0000 UTC]

indeed, and your comic really shows that. Well for now instead of making a hetadoujin I'm just creating all the characters and their histories first so that I can later best show how the characters would interact historically.

Ah yes, I remember this dispute from AP World History... Everyone was just at everyone's throats if he did this, if they did that, then I'll do this, yadda yadda yadda. It was like a stack of dominoes falling over one by one, each impacting the next only to all fall down.

You did explain very well, though.

Yep^^U
Well, it may sound stupid, after seeing Italy´s sudden upgrowth in the canon episodes, the idea in my imagination was "ok, these characters grow when the country they represent becomes stronger" or something like that. Then, in that period of economical growth, with the industrialization boom, and scientific development I thought, "Germany may grow so fast in this period"
But it was just my idea XD

AuFigirl In reply to Noive [2014-08-10 12:03:46 +0000 UTC]

No worries, that's a really cool headcanon! No wonder Germany and N. Italy are besties!

Noive In reply to AuFigirl [2014-08-12 02:48:19 +0000 UTC]

I read somewhere that, in this period Germany represented order and discipline (ok, like now XD) so Italy wanted to take Germans as example to follow. But, who knows. It's like Portugal and Britain, always besties... but the reason here was to bother both Spain and France XD
