This is so lovely! How did you cut the square holes for the cord to go through?

How did you get the papers to line up so right? I can't seem to get it right!

You have to pack the signatures together really tight and hard, then use an X-acto knife and ruler to trim the edges.

I love how the simple, elegant design just lets the colours and textures speak for themselves. I especially like the cover paper!

Yeah, this is really sweet! Might have to cough up some extra cash to get myself one (or maybe one for a friend!). You still gonna be doing this into next year?

oh wow! that is wonderful!! so professional! i love the straps to keep it closed. how did you do the binding? did you do it with string?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nokari In reply to Abbey-TerMeer [2009-12-29 01:24:57 +0000 UTC]

I did a traditional binding with 4-page signatures. Each signature is bound with white string, with each connecting to the next, taped and glued.

He loves it, but we'll see if he actually uses it lol

I also gave him a print of a monogram I made of his initials from my Calligraphy class. He went and got it framed yesterday, so when I get some good lighting, I'll take a picture.

Take some pictures of your cat . I love kittens. Have you decided on purchasing any other lenses for it?

nokari In reply to WatermelonBread [2009-12-29 01:27:05 +0000 UTC]

I took a look at what Best Buy had and was eying a 55-200mm for $200. I'm gonna have to wait on lenses though.

WatermelonBread In reply to nokari [2009-12-29 01:34:25 +0000 UTC]

You'll have a lot of fun with a 55-200. Here's a tip for your 18-55 though . Keep your aperture at 5.6; that's the sweet spot for that particular lens. You'll get the highest amount of detail.
