Going back to my roots for a bit and drawing some TLK stuff... this started out as an aimless sketch with only the intent of drawing running cubs.It turned into Simba and Nala, either having a race or sneaking off on an adventure. I can't decide whether to make it a daytime, dusk, or nighttime picture though? Dusk or nighttime would have fireflies, so I'm leaning towards one of those...
Either way, it's going to be a full colour scene, and I'm putting a lot of effort in as it's mostly unreferenced.
I'll move this to scraps when I've got the actual thing finished.

Wow, this already looks good and you've just got them sketched! I look forward to the finished product 
I think it should be a transition between night and dusk, that point where the stars are out but there's still a sliver of light in the sky, to show they've got a whole night of adventure ahead!

Thanks! I did try to do exactly that, but I wasn't happy with the colours being so cold so I think I might do something more like this, but I'm not sure:

Thanks! I tried a couple more colour schemes but this one feels the most natural. Now I just have to, y'know, *draw* the thing. XD Dem trees ain't gonna be easy, I always make trees look like clouds. XD

Hmm nighttime I think,at dusk there would be too much of a risk of them getting caught, but at night everyone would be asleep so they can sneak out

I might make it really dusky dusk, like, the sort of dusk when Mufasa has the chat with Simba before the 'look at the stars' speech. Don't want it to be too colourless, would be nice to have a little bit of a warm colour in the sky.

I know right?! I'm so glad it's going well, it's been too long since I drew a full scene. It's not the most creative, but really after so long without drawing TLK I needed something that wasn't TOO challenging!
