Oh my gosh! Little pterodactyls. ^^ I love it. You have a great imagination, from the looks of this picture and your whole gallery. Definitely getting a watch from me.

his "john carter of mars" series has a lot of airships in it. not sure if 1920's science fiction is your field of interest, but i liked the association i got. always been a big fan of your work and i have a weakness for airships

Wow... Your settings, costumery, and imagery are all evocative and luxurious. And the setting is spectacular.

Mm, this turned out nice -- love those bagpipes and that feathered hat!

The clouds have a nice softness to them, but I'd perhaps suggest a little bit less shading on the lit side, to conform with the placement of the light source far to the left of the picture plane. Related to this point, it seems to me like the sails of the airships would be casting shadows at more of an angle across the hull/gasbag. Also, fore and middle ground seem to be competing for the viewer's attention -- perhaps less contrast in the middle ground, mainly through the use of shadows that don't reach the full shadow value of the foreground objects, would help separate them.

Still, very nice evenness of shading as always, and the forms are very well defined!

I've been meaning to make some changes so I incorporated some of your suggested changes, at least those that I can make at this late stage. Not my normal practice since I tend not to make any changes once I signed and dated the sketch as a way to keep track of progress, though I do carry criticisms to future sketches.

I think the increased shadows on the airships look good, it helps create the impression of a unified light source.

oh wow... you *really* need to get into animation, these ships *need* to fly and those bagpipes *need* to play
