* I've always loved the paintings of artists like Sargent, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, etc. The light and color they achieve with loose, painterly strokes is amazing to me. To see one in real-life can be truly baffling . Being self-taught, I think I'll always have some feeling of being 'in school' - So, I figured I'd try and see what it's like to paint one. The original is much larger , I think maybe 4x5 feet...
