After a shipwreck, a man wakes up on a strange, forlorn island. Could it be...?
Part 2 of this

A two-pages standalone story I did last year at my old Academy. Ugh! It's hard to cram a meaningful story into two pages, so I picked something explorative and speculative. My take on Atlantis and why it can't be found.
I was very relieved that my teachers and fellows could understand what is happening here - it was a bit hard to deliver. I hope it's clear to you as well

Wow...I still remember in an episode of Dex Hamilton he got swallowed by a whale strider and found a whole new world.

Oh man, this is a hella rad comic with a great twist! Your style is amazing <33
Congrats on telling such an interesting story with so few pages and no words! That's a real challenge!

Thank you so much!
I really wanted to color this, but I had a deadline and 4 other projects to complete I'm glad you like the final monochromatic look!

actually, the monochromatic is perfect for this story! it gives it a mysterious outlook to it yet some how keeps it believable. Actually, it reminds me of a story called "The Arrival" By Shaun Tan.Β
Good luck with your dead lines and projects though!

Thank you so much
Oh, I love Shaun Tan's works! I saw one of his books once, but I couldn't remember neither his name nor the title of the book - I was kinda in a hurry. Thank you for mentioning him!Β

I'm usually terrified of leviathans. But since the design of this one is beautiful although the scale isn't emphasised, I can look at it for a long time. I'll read the rest. I'm planning to make short strips like this based on ballads I listen to, but I'd have to get better, faster first.

Really? But you like dragons, right? That's odd Β This one is more like a big toothy fish with stubby legs, ahah.Β
Why not start right away? Sounds like an interesting project. I think jumping into projects instead of thinking "I'll do this once when better/faster" would have done me a world of good in terms of improvement and general satisfaction Just my opinion, of course.

Indeed. It's just that leviathans are freaking huge and add to my fear of the open sea. It also doesn't help that we don't have much autonomy in water like we do on land or in the air.
I just saw the first page and it's actually not that bad, and the stubby thing makes it appear quite adorable.

I would usually think that starting a project when you're still not too confident could affect consistency when you keep at it later on, but then again we're all improving as we paint, so I really should be getting to it. Thanks, nondev.
Keep it up.

I see! I know a lot of people who are very afraid of deep water.
Glad you find my big fish not so intimidating

I understand the consistency problem. I haven't tried starting big projects myself because I think the same things as you, but as far as I can see, a lot of people who have started projects without expecting anything special have kept it up until completion because of all the awesome support thei gained during the journey. That gave them motivation and consistency they wouldn't have had otherwise.
I'm not too optimistic/confident so I tend to stop myself everytime I feel excited about some new personal project, but that doesn't stop me from encouraging others to go with their guts

I'm glad I never had any nightmares about a creature as immense
as a leviathan underwater before. I heard it drove people insane
in the Book of Job.

You're right and perhaps I should launch it. I plan to make it a
graphic novel actually...how do you think I should about it?
I've been wanting to do it but I don't know if people
should read it online for free or not. Or I print it.
