Description

This ship is my interpretation of one of the mysterious rebel background ships in the ending scene of The Empire Strikes Back. Modelling was done in Sketchup and final renders in Blender.

The C-19C Averter-class cutter was built by the Corellian Engineering Corporation as a long-range patrol ship for the Galactic Republic. After the rise of the Empire, the Rebel Alliance acquired a few of these ships and after modifications they served as reconnaissance ships for the most part of the Galactic Civil War. Equipped with a class 1 hyperdrive the ship combined the speed of a starfighter with the capabilities and the self-sufficiency of larger ships. Combined with its inconspicuous appearance this made it the perfect ship to quickly gather intelligence unnoticed, while also being able to sustain itself for a while. Equipped with only two dual laser cannons and light armor, the ship was not intended for combat and was therefore not usually seen in battles.

The ship measured 68.5 meters in length placing it between a CR90 and a YT-1300. It was equipped with a docking ring and a boarding ramp on the ventral side as well as a downwards-facing sensor dish. The unusual placing of the dish allowed receiving transmissions from a planet’s surface while staying in orbit. In addition, the ship had other hidden sensors and radar equipment, as well as a tractor beam projector.

Three ships of this type, the Incident Light, the Hazebreaker and the further modified Shadow of Doubt, were present at the Haven rendezvous point after the Battle of Hoth.
