Yay! My first current submission since my return to this account!
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday yesterday~
I couldn’t stop watching the new trailer for Disney’s Nutcracker movie coming out next year. Their cover of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” is too EPIC.
A little storytime regarding this AU:
Princess Vanellope rules the Land of Sugar Plums justly and all is happy and well, until one day the Mouse King invades and banishes her to the Wasteland of Forsaken Toys. To prevent her from ever escaping, he transforms her loyal guard Sir Ralph into a nutcracker. Some time later in the mortal realm, a young girl receives a Christmas gift from her godfather Litwak Drosselmeyer which will lead her on an incredible journey.
Initially I had Vanellope in the role of Clara/Marie, but then I really liked this subplot idea of her as the Princess and being banished to this land of broken and forgotten toys and she earns their friendship and forms her own army of broken toys. I later cast Moppet Girl as Clara/Marie to better suit Litwak as Drosselmeyer. I also really liked the idea of Moppet Girl forming a close friendship with Ralph and Vanellope.
Calhoun is the leader of Moppet Girl’s soldier toys they aid Ralph on his return to the Sugar Plum kingdom. Felix is Vanellope’s Prime Minister and he leads the resistance of the enslaved Sugar Plum citizens. So basically there’s like 3 different armies and together they overthrow the mouse army.

Oops, I guess Slappy has sort of become the face of all ventriloquist dummies, lol. When coming up with ideas of abandoned toys, I thought it would be cool to include a dummy who is still kind despite children being creeped out by him. Also when he fights the mice, he could bite back just as hard lol.

Your Wreck it Ralph crossover artwork is really good. Love the Nutcracker also. Two of my fave things here combined into one. Lol
Great casting choice. I can't stop watching the Nutcracker Four realms trailer either. The music keeps drawing me back to it.

I'm really hoping the Nutcracker movie will be good; it feels so much like Tim Burton's Alice, which I was quite disappointed by, so I'm hoping this movie will fill up that void in my life lol.

The Burton Alice in wonderland vibes does worry me a bit. It seems like they cookie cut some elements from that.
Got a bad feeling they might give Clara the dull generic cliche of becoming a powerful female to please the feminist crowd like they did with Alice.

It's really only an issue if they don't properly build it up; my issue with Alice is that the story used a generic "Chosen One" plot which basically shoehorns Alice into her role, while too much focus is spent on the Mad Hatter (it still irritates me to no end how Johnny Depp gets single top billing in this movie when it's supposed to be about Alice). I hope Clara does not suffer the same fate; I think she rocks that stylin' uniform quite well.

I agree. Hatter ended up as the main focus in both films. Because of this, not enough was given to make Alice a character worth caring about for the viewers.
Alice even got sidelined from her own advertisements. (I know its johnny Depp who played him but come on. That was a bit overboard.)
Clara had better get enough screen time to become a likeable protagonist.
