How to animate a mermaid.Took me 90 minutes. No reference, but also no hands and no hair and no water. That's too hard. I'm just a beginner.
ps: thx to =Yetska for kicking my butt and giving me tips.

Eventually yeah. But you can start with the most critical movements and then start filling in.

This is really great, especially for being just a beginner! My one critique is the timing throughout the jump is too even which makes her entry into the water look really slow. Just pull out a couple frames from the end and beginning of the jump to fix it. (Maybe just the end, actually)

Tip: Leave a few frames out when she jumps out (and jumps in): for a more 'weighty' result.

ya i think the same because here its almost like slomo. its really good animation im not saying it isnt! but when fish-or anything- jump out or into the water its always quickly out, in the air for a moment, then quickly in. really you only need to dlete a frame or 2

im not sure if ur going for naturlistic animation or just anythin? i think its too slow, , fish usually burst out and sort of glide for a short second then splash down, it sort of just merges out then somehow jumps, but an ok attempt

really well drawn and the line of movement and perspective is awesome, but the only problem for me would be the timing. Its really floaty and there is no weight to it.

nice, just one suggestion, thier isnt much in the way of weight. its all one smooth motion. you need to take into account the forses of gravity. you could probably loose a few frames on the way up and on the way down. animation 101 the bouncing ball, check it out.

Very good job Norke. Animation is getting to be really very easy now. Although it really just depends on how you do it. I know that hand drawing the frames is the hardest version of animation. Personally I like the "old school" way. (Drawing by hand vs PC animation). I would like to take some time to get to know how to use apps to animate. I have a few different ones so perhaps I will try soon. Thanks for the tips and the animation reel.

You can click on the "How is it done" button... There you can see how it's done. It's all done in flash without any guides or references or whatsoever.
