I have loved the Harvest Moon series since elementary school. At this point I've played the majority of the franchise, from gameboy advance games to 3ds and gamecube and playstation, but I had never played the first Harvest Moon from the 90s. Well, during the last weeks of quarantine I started it, Harvest Moon (SNES), and oh my gosh...somehow it really holds its own despite its age. This game is amazing; the atmosphere, the lore, the characters...I love old HM games in general because the characters have serious issues and complicated families, and this game really explores that. From Ellen's alcoholic father to Eve's abandonment issues, it captures the highs and lows of a remote small town. There are so many moments in HM SNES that are haunting and thought-provoking, and I'm so glad to finally be playing it.
So here is my first fanart for the game, from left to right: Nina, Maria, Eve, Ann, and Ellen.
I've married Eve and she's going to have her first kid soon. It's mid-winter and the landscape is so silent and foggy...it's wonderful.
I hope everyone is holding up okay. I've found it hard to do art lately, but HM always helps inspire me.

ohh gorgeous poses and expressions! I've only ever played one HM game (one for DS) and i very vividly remember the pain when I'd accidentally overwritten my main save game

I love your take on these ladies! Harvest Moon SNES was my first HM game and I absolutely loved it. It's very simplistic in many ways, but it has a much darker tone that I love about the older games. I married all five, and I love them all!

The game is great, though I wish we could get a remake of it with crops for autumn and stuff. But I still love to play it, despite the flaws. And I completely agree with you, the lore of the families is amazing.
Ellen is my fav of the girls, forever, but Eve is also good... And Ann. Ah, I can't choose!

A remake would be really cool! I guess the closest we might get to that was Magical Melody. I'm glad that game reused some of the characters, but it's a shame that that's been their only big re-introduction.

Yeah, MM used some of the characters, but was a vastly different game. One day I would love to see it. Who knows, when the FomT remake is popular enough they may consider it.
I think Maria liked to sweep, she also did it when she was your wife, but on your farm ^^

I admit, I don't know which versions of her I got to know. I played several HM's, but didn't finish a single one :'D. But now that I'm writing about it, I continue to remember things, like carrying the dog all over the place, milking cows and... someone with a horse? I think I have a GB game left lying around somewhere, I shall hunt for it!
