How I play Dragon Age games, with their notorious approval system: when I am about to make a decision that a companion is going to majorly disapprove of, I do everything in my power to butter them up first by doing a ton of little things that yield approval points. I knew Solas was going to disapprove of me recruiting the Grey Wardens, so I took him along whenever some magic/lore-realted stuff and/or helping elves was involved.Related content

The comic is lovely btw. I really like the warm colors in the background and your character vector art is always so expressive and pretty! (Panel 3 being my favorite, haha!)

This always worked like a charm - especially since if you get a companion's approval to 100, they can no longer disapprove. 
The only catch is, you don't see an approval scale in Inquisition (which is supposed to give the game more realism), so you have to follow your companions' reactions closely and keep mental note of where you stand in their eyes.

Yep, I always did that as well....after playing the first game where you could easily lose approval with one simple sentence, I always made nice with them before coming across a big decision point

My Warden was Alistair, I sacrificed Hawke to keep Alistair alive and then Solas is going to greatly disapprove of my action to keep them . . . man he'll be okay I just have to ask him questions about his travels for approval.
