Started out using brighter colors and more jarring palettes, moved towards darker shades. Had a tendency towards warm colors and colors closer to each other on the spectrum, moved towards cooler colors and more contrasting shades. Ponies had a tendency towards shortened legs and wider body proportions, moved towards longer legs and more exaggerated proportions. Started with silly pieces with no context, moved towards pieces that allude to a story behind them. Over time, started adding more details to backgrounds rather than using simple patterns. More dynamic shading and lighting as the year progressed. Necks now obey the position of the head rather than being independent entities.

Lots of changes, some of them being simply stylistic and others being improvements.

I also like the picture you chose to highlight July, as an aside. I could never for the life of me think of a reason as to why.
