Description Edit: Fixed to add butt flowers~

So I've finally gotten around to getting this finished! Unfortunately for me, I've been having laptop issues (the poor boy is on his last leg...) as well as tablet issues (Word of advice, Monoprice tablets aren't worth shit.) and generally was swamped by work, which pretty much made it impossible for me to do any kind of digital art.

For anyone curious, this is for 's DTA which can be found here: sableu.deviantart.com/art/DTA-…

Also, I didn't realize till later that I forgot her butt flowers. It's pretty late atm and I have work, so I'll add them later. Whooops!

So, for this DTA, I'll try to keep it short.

I'm still deciding on a name, since I don't want to be really obvious and name her Lily or Musa, though for now I'm calling her Cadence.

Cadence is the brume of a muscadet lily. Muscadet lilys are often frequented by hummingbirds, among other kinds of creatures. When Cadence was still alive, she had a regular visitor in a hummingbird named Zippo. At the time, Cadence didn't really understand much of the world or what or who the green creature was. She hardly could distinguish him from a leaf. Still, in some strange way, she enjoyed his company.

Yet, as with all things-both creature and plant-time came for her to die. Her death, like her life, was nothing out of the ordinary for a lily. One day she simply started wilting until there was nothing left...

For the longest time she ceased to feel anything, and while later she might recall remembering how she missed the sun or Zippo's company, in truth, the time passed without her... not her feelings or thoughts or any influence. But that isn't to say she was forgotten.

Zippo, the ever faithful companion, would still flutter around her lily pad, poking at the wilted petals for something sweet. Even when he found nothing, he would return again and again. He didn't understand why at first, but the disappearance of the simple flower made him sad, and in his sadness he grew even more determined. When the lily itself began to die and sink into the calm waters (waters that, in Zippo's mind, did not understand the very serious crime they were committing by devouring the plant) Zippo struggled to pull it out of the water. He failed several times, but eventually managed to somewhat settle it closer to the shore. Though it lay half submerged, the hummingbird rested on it tiredly, eventually falling asleep.

When he woke up a shadow had been cast over him and the lily pad was glowing faintly.

A large creature stood over them, shadow obscuring most of it's features. Zippo was sure of one thing, it was like nothing he had ever seen. One of it's hooves stood on the edge of the lily pad and Zippo vibrated in anger. How dare this stranger simply step on such a wonderful thing. The hummingbird pecked at it's leg, fluttering this way and that, trying to shoo it away... but it stayed. the creature simply watched him with eyes that seemed to see right through him. It made Zippo both fearful and humbled at the same time. He wasn't sure what to do, for the longest time he couldn't do more than stare back.

Until something amazing happened. The lily pad began to glow. Then, as if Spring had taken the place of Fall, the lily began to bloom again. Zippo flew down to it, brushing against it's soft petals and tasted the sweet nectar. The lily had truly returned.... and... seemed to be moving? In his excitement, Zippo failed to realize that not only did the lily bloom... but a head had bloomed right beneath it. A white head attached to a small, furry body. No longer was the flower attached to the lily pad, but this new creature. Zippo briefly wondered if he should be afraid or angry, but the creature felt familiar to him. He didn't mind it's presence so much. Happily, he buzzed around it. The creature seemed to enjoy his company as well. For a few minutes they frolicked together, playing and enjoying the good company.

Cadence was happy again. She didn't know why... Her life as a flower was a distant one, almost like a dream. It didn't feel real, though she was sure her feelings for this small bird was. It had taken her a while to understand her situation, what she was and what had happened. The Rasues, shortly after she had been born, brought her back to Brunshim. He taught her how to move between worlds and let her explore the new abilities that came with her new body before allowing her to have her own freedom once more.

It wasn't really a hard choice what to do next. She returned to Zippo who, as always, patiently waited for her. It wasn't something either of them really questioned, wherever she went, he would follow. For the longest time, it seemed like it would stay that way forever...

But, as with how this story began, all things have an end... nothing lives forever.

So, for now, I'll leave you with that. I do have big plans for poor little Zippo *evil laugh of doom and terror*

As for the technical stuff...

The Brume's name is Cadence.

She's a fairly small brume, probably the size of a newborn kitten, perfect for her even tinier friend.

Cadence releases a powerful aroma from her flowers, though Zippo almost never shares them with anyone. He's pretty possessive over them.

I'm still figuring her out completely. I have a story in my head, but as a singular character, I need to work more on her details.
