Description

In memory of my sweet little betta, BRUCE WILLIS, the pink and red one on the left <3 I named him Bruce because he looked bald being pink

I started this drawing at 5.9 and didn’t finish it until today, I was demotivated But I’m happy with it now that it’s done - however - as unlikely as I thought it would be, my scanner butchered it :’( It’s not as streaky irl.
I slapped some gold glitter on this bad boy after scanning, gold doesn't ever scan well unfortunately.

Copic markers on paper, A5.

Glad you like it I enjoyed designing it, sort of like a partial crown~

When I think of the sea, I always feel calm. So seeing that feeling in this piece really identifies with me.

I like that limited pallet you choose, the darker colors helps understand that he's under the sea. I know you say the streaks aren't irl, but I think it fits well with the drawing, it helps with the movement of the water.

They are a few things that I think could be improved, which are really minor detail, but I think it could help with the overall drawing. First is adding movement to the betta fish, I like that they aren't all the same, but they all seem placed. Maybe make the tails look as if they were swimming around him. Add the same movement his hair has to their tail/fins. Also, making some of the fish darker than others, right now they all seem in the same place, but making some of the fishes darker, adds more depths to the drawing.

But overall, they drawing is beautiful, his hair is amazing and the lineart is so smooth. I love the small details and movement the necklace has as well. I think people might have over looked the shadows you gave the fish in front of him, it's great cause it gives it dimension. I love how his blush isn't the typical pink.

Thank you, thank you!
I'm so happy that you noticed the blush detail! I used a sort of beige/brown and a green to highlight and accentuate bits of the face and body

I admit I rushed the inking a little when it came to the fish, and you're right! I have plenty of books with pictures of them so I could definitely have lifted my bum and looked at some references to get more flow into it. Used some different angles of the fish even. I didn't even think about adding depth to the fish Now as I look at it it could've been cool with some mere shadows of a shoal of guppies or something in the far background among other things. Thanks

If you hadn't mention the green accents, I would have never noticed! They blend so well in the drawing that you can't even tell it's not a usual color to use for the skin.  I'm going to try and experiment with different blush colors, I really dig it.

The scanner also turned them a lot more yellow than green so they don't show up much on comp
Awesome
