Description (A/N: There is a trigger warning on this.  The reader has an anxiety attack in this and is dealing with minor depression.  If you aren't comfortable with this or can't handle it, do NOT read.)

You sigh deeply as you rest your head against the coolness of the refrigerator door.  Your thoughts had been running wild all night, preventing you from catching up on sleep.  You had been wandering around the Avengers tower in hopes of tiring yourself out, but it only made you more restless.  You had eventually found yourself in the living area of the tower.  You thought you could possibly find a comfort food, but nothing seems appetizing anymore.

Tears prick the corners of your eyes when you remember how empty the tower felt nowadays.  You constantly wonder if Steve and the rest are okay because you haven't heard anything from them since the war.  Walking around the empty, silent rooms only reminded you of how much you missed them.  Everything seemed so empty without them.  There was only you, Tony, Vision, and Rhodey left as residents in the Tower.  God knows where Bruce and Thor were.  Natasha had gone off the grid for the time being.  Peter was staying with his Aunt May.  As for everyone else, they had just disappeared.

You didn't realize how lonely you had become until a week after the war.  It was a Friday night, the weekly movie night you would all have.  You knew they wouldn't be there, but there was something in your head that made you excited to get home.  However, the second the elevator doors dinged open to an empty room, your isolation came crashing down.  All you had were the Avengers.  They were your wonderful, makeshift family.  And you missed them...  You missed your home.  Without them, you felt like nothing.

Maybe I really am nothing... you think, If I can't be an avenger anymore, I don't have anything.  Your thoughts seem to grow even further, and before you know it, you're in full panic mode.  It was hard to believe how quickly it had arrived with how slow it began.  The only thing you could hear was your heartbeat drumming erratically and your unmeasured breathing.  You slowly slide to your knees as you hold your head in your hands.  Your hands fly around you, going between holding yourself to tugging at your hair quite roughly as you sob uncontrollably.  Breathe, you remind yourself, You know how to calm yourself down.

"I can't... I can't, I can't, I can't" you whisper fervently to yourself.  Your vision blurs as tears flow down your face.  You couldn't take it anymore.  You were breaking down and it terrified you to no end.  Focus... you think, Focus on something.  Anything. You look up and stare at a photo on the fridge.  You stare at it unblinkingly, taking in every detail to distract you.  You heave labored breaths as you try to take control.  You're so focused on controlling your emotions, you don't notice your name being breathed out.

Suddenly, a hand is comfortingly placed on your shoulder.  You rip your gaze away from the photo to look at who was touching you.  Tony stands there with a sad, worried look clear on his face.  Your hands quickly rise to wipe away your tears even though it was too late to hide them.

"H-hey," you mumble.  He reaches out a hand and helps you to your feet.  He awkwardly holds out his arms, silently asking if you needed a hug, but you shake your head.  His look alone asks you if you want to talk about it, and something makes you feel like you're obligated to.

"I-I just... I'm tired Tony," your voice cracks, "I'm tired of losing people, I'm tired of feeling sad..."

You pause to breathe before you whisper, "I miss them..."

Tony doesn't say anything, and for once he's at a loss for words.  He could understand how you felt, having been in the same situations before, but he couldn't find the right words.  You shake your head gently, rubbing your eyes exhaustively.  Your hands drag themselves across your face and into your hair.

"I just...  I wanna be happy," you choke out a sob, "I just wanna go home..."  Tears are falling down your face once more.  You sigh in an attempt to catch your breath.  Looking in to Tony's comforting brown eyes, you smile weakly.

"Tony?" you ask in a whisper.

    "Yes, (Y/n)?"

"I could really use a hug right now," you choke out, tears already making their way back.  You fall into his arms tiredly the second he reaches out.  You bury your face into his chest as he wraps his arms around you.  He whispers sweet, comforting words to you, gently stroking your hair and rubbing circles in your back.  You'd be lying if you said this wasn't the safest you've felt in a long while.
