Through all of the tough timesWith the ones I need
Sometimes all you need is a good friend.
Yet again, I'm playing around with paint tool sai.
So many layers..
Obviously these two ponies have had a rough day, week, or month. This is about finding the strenght to care for a friend who is feeling down, even though you yourself may not be feeling great. It's giving and receiving. It's friendship.
I know Applejack looks huge compared to Rarity but I wanted it to be like that, because well, otherwise AJ would be all.. Hidden behind Rarity's mane.
I'm pretty happy with this c:
Rarity and Applejack belong to My Little Pony.
Art belongs to me.
The mystery of where AJ's hat has gone to is getting further away from being solved... :U

This is incredibly cute, as I have already said, and I'm glad you brought it to my attention! I like your style; it is delightfully "shiny" and glossy in all the right places!
As for Applejack's hat, well... I personally think she looks quite nice without it. But either way, of course, she's a most lovable pony!

I can't help but making things shiny, it's so much fun. And I'm glad you think I put the shiny in the right places! I really do think alot about where I put the shine and such.
I can't draw it for my liiifeeee, her hat. I've tried, several times, but it's really hard for some reason.

Well yes, I really do think the gloss is very strategically placed so kudos on that! I especially like the way the shine on Applejack's hair came out here, if I neglected to mention that before.
You know, it sounds silly but I also have found the hat difficult to draw properly in the past, and especially when viewing Applejack from a rear 3/4 angle. I guess my best advice, clichΓ© as it is is to just keep practicing drawing it until you get the hang of it. That's what I did anyway!
At least, as I said she still looks very cute without it~ ^.^

I got some comments some years back about how my shading and lighting was all over the place, making it look very... Strange. So I've practiced since then. I've gotten a lot better, but sometimes I put shadows, not where they make sense but where I want them XD
I've never been able to draw hats in general very well -w- They end up looking weird.

I understand that, and I think I've been guilty of taking such artistic liberties with shadows and whatnot before as well (in fact I know I have). But it's not always about creating a technically-accurate piece, or at least it shouldn't be. Sometimes art is just about expressing yourself or having fun!

Aaaaw this is heartbreaking :C I also like AJ being bigger, I mean, Big Mac is a draft horse so she obviously has some of those genes in her x3
