Description the other day i was talking about tigers with a classmate, and i decided to draw my favourite subspecies, two of them extinct and the other critically endangered.
met one of my favourite websites: [link]

some info on the subspecies because some groups require it
the Javan tiger (Panthera tigris sondaica) were a small subspecies, but larger than Balinese tigers, with a max weight of 140 kilos. it's thought it became extinct in the early 1980s.
the Bali tiger (Panthera tigris balica) was the smallest subespecies, generally not surpassing 100 kilos of weight. last recorded individual was shot in 1937.
i colored its lighter parts too dark, descriptions insist on how dark their coloration was. they had a strangely shaped snout, with a sort of slight concavity in the nose bridge, which made them look different to other tigers. unfortunately i don't know if i represented them well, photos are rather blurry. so my apologies for that i will fix the "white" though.
the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is the only remaining subspecies of the three, even though its population is critically endangered, with around 300 individuals. they have a smaller size than continental subspecies, due to their life in the jungle, and a maned/bearded appearance. like the other subspecies, they had a narrower muzzle than continental tigers.

caspian tiger may still live as the Siberian tiger, read here: [link]

also, sorry for the horrible "background" thing i wasted 2 hours trying to fix that disaster, to no avail. i'm tired now but may fix it later. the tigers have mistakes, but hope you like it anyway...
desaturated the colors a bit, i think it look a little better now.
but yeah, next upload will be non-animal for sure.

The extinction of two of these three great tigers is in my opinion, one of mankind’s greatest crimes against nature.

On an interesting note, Javan tigers are sometimes said to be still alive, so if they’re still out there, there is hope yet.

They are amazing! The Balinese one looks almost feminine to me.
Tigers are my all-time favourite animal, so I really appreciate that someone else cares that these beautiful creatures are being hunted to extinction T_T

thank you!
sadly, hundreds and hundreds of species are dissappearing every year, mostly due to loss of habitat.

I know. It's so sad. I get really (bizarrely) angry about it, mainly because I haven't got the means to do anything about it at the moment. I keep hoping someday I will.

you can, actually and the simplest way is reducing consumerism. ecosystem is threatened everywhere mostly because the demands on recourses from welthy population is way too high.

it's not that much about the number of people in the planet, consiering that people of the most industrialized countries consumes and contaminates 30 times more than a person who has only the basic resources, or below the sources to survive. but simple things can make a much bigger difference than you'd think.

yep! althought their existence is not confirmed, there are several reports, althought there isn't any footage or skin collected. it would be awesome if one (or more) of them gets caught with a remote camera

well, many other much less charismatic species are extinct or endangered too, and quite often they get little to no help even if saving them would be alot less complicated than saving tigers
