Description
Extended speedpaint commission for Gewalgon of their heavenly dragon species where my task was to catch the "feeling" of flight. Freedom. The moment of enjoyment of flight. Adrenaline. Flying, leaving all worries behind back while feeling the wind blowing on face.Honestly, this commission took me far on my personal feelings where I used to question at what I am really good. And where I feel happy and myself.
I love to be a free soul.
My health issues took away my deepest dreams, many things that I really dream to do and I feel like I'm truly good at- will not happen on this life. Maybe in my another life I can realize my dreams since my physical existence (body) is damaged in way that nothing can be fixed and prisons my soul.
I had a dream where I was hanging out with my friends. Most of my friends that I hung, were types of pursing their dreams. They were so amazing and did a lot of amazing stuff. And I've been told by them that I can't. There are many things I cant do and I suck. I felt deprived in myself.
But the only thing that I feel really good and I can fully accomplish is mushing. To be exact, even more unique form of mushing- it's skijoring, as freestyle mushing.
I hook up my skis, sled dogs and started roaming on amazing speed on the surface of lakes. I felt free. That was my flight.
My sport. My enjoyment. My way to release all of my self-doubts.

You've captured the dynamicism here that's for sure. There's a great sense of running it on the edge. It's the same feeling I get when I ride my motorbike around corner. The outstretched wings and the intense look on his face.

They say dreams can set you free.... but I believe they are the certain ones you don't see until later, the ones that save you. Dreams like this painting here, most certainly has to be something you've lived. Even if you merely dream of experiencing someting, its nearly as good as actually having done it.

So finally I found some time to write a comment about this...
First of all I was really surprised how fast you've done the commission! One day after I payed the drawing was done, wow!
My first impact - I had miscellanous feelings.
The scene I described, where Alvrericjas is flying close above a lake, great mountains in the background, and she's diving / putting one of her paws into the water while her joyful flight - This moment you captured very well, even much better than I had in mind. The scene looks very dynamic, almost like if you had shoot a photo of this moment.
But then looking to the sky- It didn't fit to this joyful moment in my opinion. It wasn't what I had in mind, what I described - A clear fullmoonnight.
The sky looks here so... kinda sad, dreary. A big contrast to the joyful expression of Alv.
When I trasmit/reflect the whole scene, the background to Alv's character - your choise to do it differently wasn't that wrong at last.
Alvrericjas is the dragon of hope, the light in the darkness, the fantasy in the bleakness, the joy in the sorrow. She always finds positive things, positive moments in for most people seemingly hopeless situations.
And this scene, this dreary nightsky relfect this fundamental part of Alvrericjas' character very well.
And what's also really great - When I told you my first impression of the sky and that I would love you to add the moon afterwards, you did that.
And now I have the original size of the drawing - with the moon on my computer, and it looks amazing!
One reasons why I wanted to let you draw the moon is because I knew from some of your other drawings that you draw the moon very detailed and very mystical, and so the title "Fantasy flight" fits to this version even better
All in all: Thank you for the great, fast, and wish-fulfilling, amazing work!
You captured with this piece one moment of my dreams, one moment of pure joy, one moment of an amazing fantasy - a moment I can't experience yet, because my soul is imprisoned in a human body - and you could express this moment even if you had completely different personal feelings.
But art is a great way to break out of such feelings, to be free, to do the things you wish to be able to do... to make a fantasy real!
And that's something you're really good in, for that many people look up to you.
Never forget that, never doubt.

Dammit, this is such an awesome picture! It is nearly possible to feel the wind and everythings else, if you just let your imagination leave any physical borders behind.

This is a really beautiful piece. You really captured the essence of freedom, and Gewalgon's dragon fits the scene nicely. I love the angle of the picture as well, it's really amazing. The colours make it seem like a calm flight rather than a wild, rollercoaster-like flight. This theme suits you well.

I love this piece! I love the texture of the dragon, its eye, the colors, the way it reaches an arm out the the waves, I could go on and on! And I am sorry to hear that you feel like you can't do everything you want to in life. I know you're not looking for sympathy as you have said before but I can't help it. I love it. The beauty of flight is one of the reason birds are my favorite animals.
When you speak of your health issues trapping you, I understand the feeling. For nearly a quarter of my life I was burdened by a medical issue that made me struggle through my goals, and really set me back in life. This past year I made a couple changes that seem to have rid me of my problem, and I'm thankful every day. Even while struggling to get back on track, or feeling totally lost at times, I always have to be happy with the freedom I've finally obtained. I wish everyone could feel that freedom, and not have to be restricted by something miserable.
