Ok, let it to be real Vaporeon wandering somewhere in Mt. Silver...This time it's my first full painted chara digitally.
Lawl.
That type full rendered characters were most difficult for me and that's what I wanted to paint. Detailed, deeply colored and no lineart.
But hey. That little piece took me many days. I'd say 5 days in total! I started liking painting with digital medium but what I hate is very time consuming and require lots of boring patience.
That was a picture for my friend. That was supposed to be more realistic Vaporeon with advanced design but I screwed with design, so just random creature for digital practice.
Or it can be realistic Vaporeon
Whatever lolz.
I wonder if anyone would be interested in those digital commission in that type in future..
PS: I ask for critiques or any ADVICES please. I'm open for them, only constructive critiques.

I agree on the boring time consuming aspects of digital painting. Each area has its up and downs though.
Anyway, cool take on vaporean. He was always my favorite evee evolution.

Hmmm... advice? Well, there's a little too much going on with this character. It's hard to focus on any particular part of it, except those orange bits. Next time, try leaving out a few extraneous features so a drawing is easier on the eye. The orange is very distracting because there's so much contrast with the blue, and it doesn't bring your eyes to areas of interest like the head. It's hard to find a focal point(s) here. Don't get me wrong, the creature looks great! But it could have been better. And it was smart not of over-render the background, as that would have made the distraction problem even worse!

I really, really like this ^^ The face looks almost humanoid.
However, the way the head is positioned between the neck/body bothers me. I think the head is too small, or the neck too thick. If the black 'underbelly' part of the neck was cut out, and you just left the blue part, personally I think would make a better proportion.

Could still be Vaporeon, at first I thought it was Suicine, but as I just had to look it up to remember the name I can see that it looks nothing whatsoever like Suicine . . .

well I can tell you one thing, it is nothing like what I would have drawn as a new Vaporeon-like-creature. 
still I do really like it, although it does look more wolf-like than cat-like (and I believe that vaporeon is suppose to be a cat)
The only thing that I have a little bit of a problem with is the two top blue hair stuff on the head, it's not "wild" enough looking for something that is running somewhere. same goes for the long white whisker things on the side of the face. But I could just be your stylization.

line art is pretty much just the "cleanup" of one's rough sketch. usually done with just black line and void of many details.
hope that helped. if not just search line art on DA and you can find some great examples.

Wow the art style is really awesome here. However it looks like a cross of a Vaporeon and a Suicune mixed together.. I like the combo though. Colors add up pretty nicely and serve a good purpose.

Mind if I ask what program and brushes you used for this? I've tried doing digital works which look as if they were paintings on a canvas but with no success. People say it's because of the program I use.
